Joi Simpson,

MA LMFT

As a Marriage and Family Therapist I have found that clients look for ways to manage their lives within their circumstances and relationships. These areas can become chaotic and confusing resulting in uncertainty and many feelings that make life hard to navigate. There are times clients have something in their past that has bothered them and are trying to figure out the meaning of what it is as well as the impact in their lives. There are times clients have a difficult past, traumatic experiences, and want to interrupt the negative impact and seek tools to increase peace and restore hope.

My approach is to ensure a custom fit to meet you where you are at. You will be met with integrity, skill building, alternative perspectives, value-orientated goals, humor, and the ultimate goal to increase the wisdom that I believe each individual possesses. From this wisdom I believe comes insight, confidence, and a way to maneuver your life and make it better. I have a passion to see you find healing, a renewed sense of purpose, and to develop your best self.

I graduated with an undergraduate in 2003 with an emphasis in Marriage and Family and Criminal Justice from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul. I completed my Master’s of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University in 2006. My history includes working with in-home family services that provided skills and tools to children and adolescents along with their parents, working with adolescents who resided in a residential setting, and outpatient services to individuals, couples, and families. I have life experience, trauma-informed training and expertise, and tools that will equip you to achieve both a wise and peaceful life.

I am a Korean American and from 8 months of age lived in a small town in Iowa. I attended Cedarville University and it was there I met my husband and best friend. Together we have lived in many places with our four children. I have a kitty named Mocha who is my furry pal and comrade. I love to get together with friends and family, I enjoy a good laugh, playing games, and eating chocolate. I understand cultural issues and love learning about new places and people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. I would count it a privilege to work with you.
